Denis Scheck is a literary translator, publisher and known to many from his programme "Druckfrisch". The witty connoisseur shared his passion for food and drink on this evening. The menu he composed with some of his favourite dishes made your mouth water just by reading it: Onsen egg with caviar, carpaccio of artichokes, fish in Vidauvan sauce, game meets coriander through to cinnamon ice cream and Burgundy plums. Wolkenburg chef Peter Golla and his crew were at the cooker. Denis Scheck guaranteed the best entertainment with his culinary and personal anecdotes.
A must for all gourmets and foodies. The freshly printed book, which whets the appetite for life, was available for purchase with a signature on the evening.
Culinary quartet
The recipe: read the plate! Take a Michelin-starred restaurateur, a wine academic, a food critic and a literary critic. Using four books as examples, the Culinary Quartet discussed with relish and passion about flavour-defining readings, kitchen fashions and sense and nonsense in the kitchen and cellar.
Among them: Cologne's cult restaurateur Vincent Moissonnier, who has just closed his two-star restaurant and is making new plans, Valentine Mühlenberger, who runs Germany's most beautiful wine bar "Bar Rix" on Cologne's Friesenwall, Jürgen Dollase, Germany's most famous food critic, and Denis Scheck, a passionate amateur chef and Germany's most prominent literary critic.

The Fine Food Days Cologne are a celebration of top cuisine. The protagonists of Cologne's upscale gastronomy bring the immense potential of the cathedral city's culinary culture to life in a variety of ways. From 20 August to 3 September 2023, outstanding chefs, restaurateurs and event managers presented their enormous culinary creativity and their sense of exquisite hospitality at the highest level.
The event took place in the city's best restaurants and many other extraordinary locations in and around Cologne. In addition to the direct gourmet experiences of Cologne's culinary art, there were numerous other cultural events, including high-quality exhibitions, innovative cookery courses, readings with prominent guests and an exciting supporting programme.
